The sun is blazing hot and the temperature is raising everyday as we say goodbye to the raining season and we anticipate the harmattan season. Thirst increases cause the weather is extremely hot and we all dehydrated more. What other way to quench this thirst and relieve your body from some of the heat than with ice tea.

In Nigeria we have accustomed ourselves the knowledge that anything tea has to be served hot, but rather than have the regular carbonated drinks which will do much harm to your body and cost a lot on your pocket, learn how to use your tea bags to make a chilled soothing drink.

Ice tea with lemon

How to make Ice Tea
4 cups of boiled water
2 or 3 tea bags of black tea
1 fresh lemon fruit
1tablespoon of sugar
Ice cubes (6-8)
Take the tea bag and put in an air tight pitcher or flask of boiled water and leave for 2-5 minutes depending on how concentrated you will like it to be. Take out the tea bags and leave the tea to cool for a while then add the slices of the fresh lemon and the ice cubes, then stir till it is chilled. Can be drank sweetened or unsweetened all depends on your preference.

Ice tea with pineapple & cinnamon

You can take it basic like this or you can always play around with fruits like pineapples, apples, cucumber, strawberries, peaches, grapes, watermelons, mangoes, oranges, limes and lots more.

Also you can use spices such as ginger, cloves, cinnamon, mint leaf to give it a different taste, and can also achieve that by adding flavours.

Some people like to make it into a cocktail by adding liqueur to it. To achieve a sugar free ice tea you can use sugar free fruit preservatives or different flavours of jam.
So enjoy this hot period with some exquisite taste quenching your taste.
